“Our passion is to run a friendly, local business that meets the needs of ordinary people as they seek to turn their house into a home.”

About Scott James BK

Scott James BK is run by Scott and Amy, a husband-and-wife team with over 10 years’ experience working in the fitted furniture industry.

Scott has worked in the construction industry for 15 years and has been installing fitted furniture for the last decade. Working and training initially with independent kitchen and bedroom suppliers before starting work on our own projects, Scott employs a multi-trade approach and is able to complete the majority of each project himself including flooring, tiling, plastering and plumbing as well as furniture installation. He has designed and installed furniture in a wide variety of spaces from new build properties with perfectly square rooms, through to old farm houses without a single straight wall! His attention to detail means that the finish will always be exemplary.

Amy’s background is in administration and she handles the “behind the scenes” part of the business. If you receive an email, quote or invoice, want to book an appointment or have an issue it will be Amy at the other end of the email or phone call.

Problem Solvers

We don’t consider ourselves “sales-people” but rather problem solvers to help you create a space you love. You work directly with us throughout the project, rather than being passed from a sales-person, to a designer and then a fitter.

Quality Installation

When installing furniture, we believe that the quality of the installation is as important as the quality of the furniture itself. A poorly fitted kitchen will soon begin to show signs of wear as doors knock against each other or fittings come loose. A well fitted will last much longer as there is very little that can perish if the space is functioning as it should.

Clear Communication

Regular, clear communication is very important to us as this ensures that customers have confidence in us and know what to expect throughout their project. We value integrity very highly and seek to do our work with an honest, open and friendly approach.

Proudly based in Cumbria.

Having relocated our home and business to Cumbria in 2021 we really enjoy our work as it takes us through some of the most stunning scenery the UK has to offer. If you’re looking for a Kitchen or wardrobes in Mid Cumbria, West Cumbria or the Eden valley just give us a call for a no obligation quote.

Our Process

1. Initial Consult

We’ll come to your house and bring a range of brochures with us. We’ll listen to your ideas and needs and suggest some options before measuring the space and discussing an initial layout and style.

2. Ball-park Price

We’ll come back to you within a week of the initial appointment with a rough estimate based on our discussion. At this point you can decide if you want to proceed or let us know that it’s not for you, we won’t be offended if you’ve found something you like more or the price just isn’t close to your budget.

Note: We just ask that if you move on to the next step that you are fairly confident that you want to work with us as the CAD drawings and plans will cost us more significant time and as a small business, we have limited resources for processing designs that don’t result in confirmed sales.

3. Detailed Drawings

We provide you with the overhead plans and computerised images that show what the final design will look like. We’ll also put together a detailed and accurate quote and let you know how much the deposit will be. At this point we can make changes to the plan a few times and we’ll go over it with you until you’re happy with the final design.

4. Confirmation

When you’re happy to go ahead we will issue the final design and price, ask you to read our terms and conditions and then pay a deposit as confirmation of the order. Once we have received your deposit, we order the furniture and at this point we cannot make any further changes to the design. We will give you a delivery date from our supplier and book an installation window.

5. Installation

We will begin installation on your project! Once installation is complete, we ask that you pay the balance for the work.

If possible, we always appreciate a nice review and ask if we can take photos of your project for our future advertising, although we understand if you would prefer us not to, just let us know.

Extra Services

Alongside our fitted furniture services, we are also able to accommodate many additional services to get those finishing touches just right!
Got a job for us that’s not listed? Drop us a message.

  • Whether you’ve sourced your perfect floor or would like a recommendation from us, we are happy to include flooring installation in your price. Letting us fit your flooring as part of the whole project ensures that everything is done in an efficient order and work is not held up while waiting for installers to work around each other. We can quote for just installing a new floor even if you’re not buying any furniture from us so just get in touch.

  • We are able to undertake small areas of plastering ourselves if it is part of a kitchen or bedroom project. If large amounts of plastering are needed or the area is complicated we work with a plasterer who’s workmanship we can personally recommend and can arrange for him to give you a price alongside our quote.Description text goes here

  • If you have sourced your own resin worktops but are struggling to find an installer, we have plenty of experience with these products and will happily give you some advice and a quote for installing these products.

  • We can include a quote for installing a tiled backsplash or flooring with your kitchen project or even quote for tiling as a standalone job. We’re more than happy to help you measure the space and order the correct amount of materials for your project.

 FAQs

  • It depends on the requirements of your job. We can undertake plumbing for your sink, dishwasher and washing machine as well as moving radiators. If you require gas or electrical services then we can recommend tradespeople that we work with regularly or we’re happy to liaise with your own tradespeople.

  • Yes, if you’re happy to rip out your old kitchen just let us know before we quote your job as this will save us some time at the start.

  • Sadly the cost of waste disposal has increased considerably in recent years so you’ll find that hiring your own skip or a rubbish removal firm will be your most cost effective option. If you are unable to get the rubbish removed we can take it away for you and will add a charge to your quote for this.

  • Depending on the size of your project a bedroom can take 2-5 days and a kitchen can be 1 - 3 weeks. We’ll aim to let you know how many days we anticipate it taking when we give you your quote.

  • You can find more information about the process for this in our terms and conditions. If the change is small we can usually accommodate it easily enough. If it will incur more time for installation or sourcing materials we will inform you and agree this in writing before continuing with the project.

  • The furniture is covered by Crown Imperial’s 5 year guarantee. All appliances are covered by the individual manufacturer's warranty.

We offer an installation guarantee of 5 years which covers any issues arising from incorrect installation. This does not cover general wear and tear or damage from unsuitable cleaning products, misplacement of hot items or water damage. We cannot offer a guarantee on installation of worktops manufactured from wood based products as these will always be prone to heat or water damage.
